Comments for Phonics students

As most of you know, I LOVE Phonics classes. Due to this I have created a new post on comments that can be used for these students.

  • Student can independently read the story on his own. Understand the story well and can answer questions accurately.
  • Student can read the story with some minor errors in pronouncing words. Understand most parts of the story and can answer at least some questions related to the story.
  • Student can read the story with some guidance from the teacher. Understand some parts of the story and can answer at least 1 or 2 questions related to the story.
  • Student can read the text word per word with assistance from the teacher. Has difficulty understanding and confused with the story. Questions rarely answered.
  • Student has difficulty reading the text even with teacher's  assistance. Doesn't understand the story at all and can't answer simple questions.
  • Message effectively communicated. Uses variety of vocabulary and correct sentence structures.
  • Message generally comprehensible with some minor errors. Few unnatural pauses. Uses good pronunciation and vocabulary
  • Message is not entirely understood. Demonstrate competence but makes frequent errors. Vocabulary is appropriate with some groping. Sometimes, pronounce words incorrectly. Some unnatural pauses.
  • Message communicated with difficulty and is unclear. Very few statements are structurally correct. Pronounce words poorly and vocabulary often inappropriate. Quite few unnatural pauses, halting and fragmentary delivery.
  • Makes no attempt to speak or is completely incomprehensible. Has weak vocabulary and no statements are structurally  correct. Very many unnatural pauses, halting and fragmentary delivery.
  • Is polite and listens attentively to the teacher. Responds appropriately to questions with ease.
  • Usually listens attentively. Student responded to most questions.
  • The learner can understand most and attempts to use ones that are less common. She can talk about complex issues. She can already define words and make associations out of a word.
