GRAMMAR

Positive:

You are very good in pointing out and correcting the mistakes in the sentences during our activity. It simply shows that you have understood the rules on grammar well.

I can see improvement in you. You really try your best to give me a complete sentence in class today. Always be conscious of this.

This is common problem for you. I give the same pattern everyday just make sure you remember them. Please practice these sentences:

You were able to express yourself. However, you need to answer in sentences. You answered in words and phrases today. Keep trying!

One of your problems is your choice of words as well as the tenses of the verbs. You need to widen your vocabulary so that you will be able to express yourself better. Take note of the following mistakes:

You have been speaking in just words and phrases please avoid doing this because this will not help you improve.

You need to express more in class. Please be confident and talk more in class so I can evaluate you better in class. Please practice this sentence:

You missed out on preposition today. Try to study them so you can get familiar on using prepositions. Please practice these sentences:

Your sentences are very basic and it is almost the same with the book. Try constructing your own sentences. Please practice:

This is an everyday problem for you. I ask the same question everyday and you make it a habit that you speak with just words and phrases. Please always complete your sentences.

Today you just spoke with words. I know you can make the most sentences so please use them. Try these sentences that I corrected:

Use the proper tense please. When I ask you something in the past you have to use the past tense if it is in the future, use future tense. Please practice:

 SET 2

PRONUNCIATION:

Fabulous:

You were fantastic! Your pronunciation of the words was simply superb! I didn’t notice any mispronounced words today when you conversed. Keep it up!

You did very well today as there was only one mistake I noticed when you conversed. You just need to practice your P and F sounds as you mistakenly interchange the sounds when reading. Please practice the following:

Average:

There weren't that many mistakes today which was excellent. You need to work on making the S sound and the short I sound though. These had been your most noticeable mistakes in class today which I would like you to practice.

You have good pronunciation. However, you need to be aware of the individual sounds of the letters and the blends they make with other letters. Please practice the following:

You did very well trying to pronounce the words. However, there was a couple you were unable to pronounce correctly. I would like you to practice these:

Great effort in trying to pronounce the words. However I did notice a few mistakes when you conversed. These were mostly interchanging the sounds of the letters "R and L" and "P and F". Please practice:

Good job! You are really showing a lot of improvement in this area. However, these are the correct pronunciations of these words:

Great effort on saying the words today! You do, however, need to work on making the Long E sound, L sound and the Short I sound. Please work on the following words:

Out of this world:

You read very well. I would however like you to work on reviewing the individual sounds of each and every letter. This is to avoid interchanging them and to be able to make the correct sounds when reading words you are unfamiliar with.

You need to be very careful in pronouncing the individual words. Try to avoid interchanging the letter. I know you can do this.

You need to work on making the individual sounds of the letter in the word you will be reading. Also blending some of the words together. Please practice the following words:

Your pronunciation needs a little polishing. You need to listen to my pronunciations carefully and try to follow it. You need to work out the following sounds: A, L, R, S, B, and V.

Try to work on your s sound. I am happy that you are trying your best to pronounce the words however you need to work on knowing the sounds of the letters. I suggest you go through phonics to learn more of this.

You tried your best to mimic the sounds but I would like you to try and remember the individual sounds. Try to practice making these sounds and the words we studied which begin with them. I know you are really striving and I commend you for it.

INTONATION:
Fabulous:

Your pace, pitch and intonation had been a lot better in class today. You were able to go through the lessons with minimal difficulty. Your reading was excellent as well. Just try to put more variations in your intonation.

Your intonation was great and needed only minimal guidance in today's class. I would like you to practice this more by reading out loud and studying the intonation changes with different punctuation marks.

Average:

You are very expressive. Although, you need to be aware of the liaisons of the words we read. This is the proper intonation of each syllable. Please continue to practice to see more improvement.

Your pitch was low though I could see your enthusiasm in class when you tried to communicate. Keep this up and we will try and work more on this in class.

You speak with enthusiasm and confidence. However, you still need to speak in right intonations and enunciate words clearly.

You speak with enthusiasm and confidence. However, you still need to speak in right intonations and enunciate words clearly.

Out of this world:

You tried your best to say the sentences I corrected with the correct intonation. You did this well when you mimicked but when doing it on your own you will still need to practice this.

Your intonation does vary at times but still need a bit more work as to when you should raise and lower the pitch. Please practice harder.

Your intonation needs a bit more work especially when saying exclamatory sentences. Try to practice this a bit more.

Your intonation was very monotonous and you need to work on stressing words in the sentences we read in the article. Please try and read the articles out loud before every class to practice.

You intonation still needs a bit of work as you still sound a bit mono tone. Also your pacing seems to be a bit fast which is causing problems with your pronunciation as well. Please try to slow down and raise your intonation by knowing when and when not to.

Your reading was really well delivered. However, you would need to focus more on your intonations by using the punctuation marks as a guide. You tend to read in a fast pace due to the limited time we have unfortunately this is affecting your clarity and tone of voice when reading. Try to slow it down a bit to properly read the sentences. Keep striving.

You were able to go through the sentences by mimicking what I had said. As you are unable to read you are unable to go through the sentences on your own thus not being able to practice this area except by copying what I say.

You read well on your own and you are able to repeat what I said with the correct intonation. This is fine for now as we are still getting you familiar with speaking in English. Just keep up your interest in studying.

GRAMMAR:

You did your best to answer the questions I asked you. Unfortunately you answered these questions in phrases and not in complete sentences which I hoped you would. We will need to practice this a bit more. Please review the sentences I corrected you on today:

You need to practice answering in complete sentences. I know it may be a bit difficult for you but I know you’ll be able to do this with practice and a review on Grammar rules. Keep pushing yourself!

You are unable to construct sentences just yet but your comprehension of sentences has shown a lot of growth in the past month. You are able to answer activities that hone your skills. So don't feel bad if you are unable to just yet. This will come and it maybe sooner than we expect it to.

You mostly answer questions with either the same sentences in the article or just in words or phrases. Please work on making your own sentences in class. Please go over the sentences I corrected you on today:

Your usual error in grammar is prepositions, answering in just words and phrases and Choice of words. I would like you to examine and practice the corrected sentences below: `

Please take note of the grammar in these sentences. You can use them as your sentence pattern.

You can answer my questions well but you always need to answer in complete sentences. You also need to listen to my questions carefully so that you will know how to answer them.

You are making progress in making your own sentences. You can now answer in complete sentences. However, you still need some guidance. Please practice the following sentences:

You tried to communicate and used key words this is a great first step but I would now like you to put more effort into creating complete sentences. Here are some of the sentences I corrected:

You missed out on a few articles and made mistakes which were caused by your choice of words. Try to review the following sentences also the rules on using articles to get a better grasp in constructing sentences. I know you can do it!

You are still having difficulty making sentences and an extensive study of grammar may be what you need to be able to do this. Try to go through this by also using the patterns we study in class.

You didn't make any sentences today, which is causing a huge dilemma in evaluating you in this category. I would suggest using sentence patterns and reviewing grammar rules to help you on this.

Try to make sentences. Though you were able to answer the questions I asked, these were done using the key words or just in one word. Please make complete sentences.

You are still very new at this and asking you to create complete sentences is still beyond your capacity and skill as of the moment. However if you continue to study hard and pay really close attention to our lessons, I wouldn't be surprised if you will be doing this on your own.

EVALUATION:

You participated well in class. You tried to answer question and make sentences. You need to add more words to your vocabulary to better express your opinions on the lesson and give your insight on the topics we have. I know you can do it keep it up!

You are getting better and better each day. I hope for your continuous progress. Please enhance your vocabulary so that you will have good choices of words.

You did well in participating in class. Your comprehension was good but I think you would need to expand your vocabulary to easily understand the sentences we read in class.
You understood bits and pieces of our conversation and the article. I suggest you try and read the article before class and try to fully understand the topic to help you build your own opinion on it.

You did extremely well, given that you did not have a copy of the article when we had our class. I would like you to give more of your opinion in class and if you don’t understand something ask. Keep making every effort! You can do it!

You are showing improvement in class. You are now able to understand more of what I say. However, you still need to improve your skills in listening and comprehension.

You are showing improvements in class. You are more cooperative as well. Please continue to be attentive and participative in class.

You are trying as much as you can to converse. However though I am able to understand what you mean you are unable to make a conversation in fluent English due to the lack of words in your vocabulary. I suggest reading easy story books and listing down the words you do not understand. Then you can look for the meaning in the dictionary. This will help you find more words which we may not be able to go through in class.

You participated well however you need to try and speak more in class. You tend to just answer with yes or no which won't help you that much in learning to communicate. Please work harder in interacting with me.

You easily understood the lesson/article we had today! Keep your opinions and points of view coming. Having open conversations about the topic is the best way for you to practice your English. Keep it up!

Your participation is quite commendable. Though you are unable to communicate and at times can't understand the instructions or questions I ask. You still try your best to answer which is why I know with more practice you will improve.

Your participation was done well. Though there were times we had problems, you were still able to go through the lesson. Keep it up!

You try to communicate but at times just use hand signals. I would like you to talk more. It’s the only time you can practice English and I would like you to maximize the time we have by you talking.

You are filled with a lot of enthusiasm and you are very fun to teach. Keep up this positive attitude as you really need to practice and I in turn will try to make it a fun experience for you. Great effort!

  1. This is very helpful. I'm an Online English teacher too, and I find it wearisome to think of new ways to give comments and feedback. I can use some of the things posted here and polish it accordingly. Many thanks! Cheers!

    2. Topping the LET doesn't mean you are just a regular teacher. It's more about how much you love to teach that you drive yourself to be better. There are times those who haven't even taken the LET are a hell of a lot better than those who have. Ironic isn't it? Haha
